Alpine Cheese with Steve Jones from Cheese Bar
Every week I go to cheese bar to pick out new cheese for the tasting room and every week the same thing happens: I stand at the counter, absolutely dumbfounded as cheese after cheese blows my mind. Each time the same dialogue runs through my head. How could the cheese be this good, this complex, this full of life? Often they are cheese that I have had before, but they taste nothing like my past experiences with these cheeses. There is always something transcendent about the experience.
Steve Jones is the mastermind behind the incredible passion, knowledge, energy, and attention to detail that results in my weekly epiphany and one of the truly deep food experiences on the west coast. We’ve been dreaming of hosting a dinner with him since we opened. Finally, mid-harvest, at the last second, its happening.
Steve Jone is coming to Hiyu to collaborate on an alpine cheese and wine experience with Jason Barwikowski and Master Sommelier Nate Ready. We will look at a series of extraordinary cheeses from a variety of angles; some small composed plates with an intricate garnish, as featured ingredients and of course… traditional raclette service. Steve will discourse at length and with passion about each cheese.
