Smockshop Band

 

Our wines are naturally made, without any addition of yeasts, nutrients, enzymes, sugar, acid, or water. We use basket presses, always move the wine with gravity and favor fermentation and aging in wood vessels of various sizes. We add small amounts of sulfur, typically less than 10 ppm, as the wines are racked for bottling.

2015 Scorched Earth Vineyard

Quietly at first the scents of the northwest dessert emerged; sage honey and a haunting, smoky, botanical essence framed by roses. These aromas came with a wall of tannin and so we waited. 22 months later they have melted and can just be felt at the periphery of the swell of aroma and sweetness.

2016 Hiyu The May I

This is the first release from what is currently a four vintage (13-16) solera of super long macerated (90-120 days) Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from the original 2.5 acre parcel at the top of the hill. It spends the coldest moments of the winter in the fermenter and we press when the snow melts and temperatures begin to rise in the spring.
